Overview
An online community operator ran a public chat site with public rooms, private messages and random chat. We designed and built many of its features over two years: rooms, profiles, images, advertising, payments, multilingual support and the admin tools, and we kept the servers running as it grew.
What we built
- Home page, dashboard and chat room design, including private chat and a way to add rooms
- Profile pages, favourites and blocking of other users
- Sending and managing images in chat
- Advertising management: placement, rotation and performance
- Language selection with a flag drop-down
- Facebook login, and PayPal payments and credits
- Random chat and a contact page
- Admin tools for managing users, rooms and site content
- Bot detection and CAPTCHA
- Server configuration and migration, and performance and database fixes
Technology used
| Layer | Choice | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Payments | PayPal | credits and payments |
