Overview
QCare is DEKRA's quality, compliance and risk evaluation platform, built on the Collabtic service platform and described on its own login page as moving compliance out of spreadsheets. It covers OE certification and compliance, programme tracking and workflow, training and people management, a quality field tool, facility and asset management, and network management. A headquarters team and a network of shops use it to track certifications, manage organisations and training programmes, share announcements and certify shops. We built a large part of its API and adjusted the front-end design so the screens work properly on smaller devices. The work ran from 2024 to 2026.
The challenge
Compliance work had lived in spreadsheets. QCare puts certification, audits, training and network status in one system with a large, long-lived Angular front end and a Yii 2 PHP API behind it. Headquarters needs a live view of compliance across the network: status by year, programme status and enrolments. Staff also need to edit metrics tables in place, with the screen reacting at once and recovering cleanly if the server refuses a change.
What we built
- API endpoints, in the Yii 2 PHP API, for certifications, organisations, training programmes, announcements, shop certification, system and technology management and service types
- Organisation management: organisations, networks and the shops within them
- A headquarters dashboard backed by APIs for network status by year, programme status, new enrolments, onboarding, a network map, audit activity, training metrics and audit gaps
- Editable metrics tables connected to a live API: edit cells, headers, rows and columns in place, with optimistic updates and automatic rollback if a save fails, number and percentage validation, and keyboard navigation
- Announcement sections for the network
- Front-end design adjustments so the existing screens respond properly across screen sizes
- A build and release pipeline on AWS CodeBuild and CodeDeploy, with separate dev, staging and production configurations
How a system like this fits together
- Client side
- Services
- Data stores
- Third parties
In words: An Angular single-page app talks to a Yii 2 PHP REST API, which stores its data in MySQL and sends email through SendGrid. The front end also uses Firebase for push messaging, Google Maps for map views and Stripe for payments. Both the front end and the API are built and released through AWS CodeBuild and CodeDeploy, with separate configurations for development, staging and production.
