Overview

AXENCIS protects brands and their intellectual property on online marketplaces. xcore is the platform its teams work in: investigators, quality reviewers, supervisors, clients and law firms each have their own portal for the listings, sellers and cases they handle. Evidence is captured as screenshots and PDFs, merged and stored, and the platform tracks cases, settlements and accounting. We have worked on the platform and its supporting tools since 2024.

The challenge

Many listings come from marketplaces built in different ways, each case needs evidence that holds up, and the work passes through several roles with different views of the same data, ending in accounting and reports for clients and law firms.

What we built

  1. Case management: cases, listings, comments, documents and legal schedule exports
  2. Settlement and payment tracking with Excel export
  3. An investigation workspace with labels, flags, and seller and payment account details
  4. Evidence handling: uploads, merged PDFs, bulk download, redaction and trusted timestamping, stored on Google Drive
  5. Role-based portals for administrators, clients, law firms, quality reviewers, supervisors and investigators
  6. Accounting for AXENCIS, investigators, law firms and clients, with quarterly PDF and Excel exports
  7. Browser extensions that bring listing data into the platform
  8. A screenshot service for capturing evidence from marketplace pages
  9. Job management and monitoring for the collection services
  10. Client email notifications and editable email templates

One Laravel and Vue platform follows a marketplace listing from discovery to an evidence file in a legal case: extensions and collection services bring listings in, a screenshot service captures proof, and the evidence is stored and timestamped.
  1. A listing is found on an online marketplace. Browser extensions send what an investigator sees to xcore, and Python collection services gather listings and seller details in bulk into the MySQL database.
  2. xcore, a Laravel API, keeps the listing, the seller and the case in MySQL. Investigators and quality reviewers work it in the role-based Vue portals, with labels, flags and payment details.
  3. A Node.js and Puppeteer screenshot service, run in Docker, captures the listing page as evidence and passes the capture to xcore.
  4. xcore merges the captures into evidence PDFs, redacts them, stores the files on Google Drive and requests a trusted RFC 3161 timestamp.
  5. Clients and law firms follow the case, the settlements, the evidence file and the accounting in their own portals, with Excel and PDF exports.
