My Taxi Ride: taxi dispatch and booking platform
Passenger and driver apps for iOS and Android, a dispatch admin panel with reporting, APIs, SIP calling and the public website for the My Taxi Ride dispatch system, built over four years.

Overview
My Taxi Ride is a white-label dispatch system for taxi and car-service companies. We built its passenger and driver apps for iOS and Android, an administrative panel, the APIs behind them and the public website, working on it from early 2013 to late 2016.
The challenge
Dispatch, payments, reservations and driver compliance all ran through the same APIs and database. As volume grew the database needed restructuring, and the apps had to stay responsive with live location and job assignment.
What we built
- Passenger and driver apps for iOS and Android: screens, icons and splash screens
- APIs for registration, login, job assignment, payment processing and location updates
- Google Maps integration for trip tracking, routes and address autocomplete
- Admin panel for zip codes, default settings, promo codes, driver suspensions and reports
- Driver document and license tracking with expiry and suspension rules
- Database optimization: tables separated by domain, stored procedure tuning and indexing
- SIP-based in-app communication and push notifications for assignments and cancellations
- Import scripts, signature uploads and status tracking for managed transportation jobs
- SMS and email notifications, security hardening (API keys, log clearing) and a public website
How a system like this fits together
- Client side
- Services
- Data stores
- Third parties
In words: The passenger and driver apps for iOS and Android, and the admin panel, use PHP APIs for registration, login, job assignment, payment processing and location updates. The APIs store data in MySQL and send push notifications through APNs, while the apps use the Google Maps API for trip tracking and routes and SIP for in-app communication.
Technology used
| Layer | Choice | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile | iOS, Android | passenger and driver apps |
| Database | MySQL | application data, tuned with indexing and stored procedures |
| Server | PHP | APIs for registration, login, job assignment, payments and location updates |
| Maps | Google Maps API | trip tracking, routes and address autocomplete |
| Voice | SIP | in-app communication |
| Push notifications | APNs | assignment and cancellation alerts |
